Questions teachers ask

Straight answers on accuracy, student data, cheating and AI detection, and what you need to get started.

Accuracy and quality

The worry I hear most, and the right one to have.

What if AI gets things wrong?

It will. AI writes with the same confidence whether it is right or wrong: wrong dates, wrong maths, invented facts, quiz questions with two right answers, readings harder than you asked for.

That is why checking is part of the method, not an extra. Session 8 is entirely about quality assurance, and we build a checklist you can run on everything. You are the editor, and you make the final call.

Will the materials be good enough to use?

A first draft usually isn't. The program teaches you how to ask so the draft is closer to what you need, and how to find and fix what is left.

We work from your own units, texts and curriculum, so the result fits your class and not an average one.

Won't everything sound generic?

Generic requests get generic results. When you give the AI your students, your level, your topic and your examples, the output is far more specific, and then you edit it in your own voice. Most of the skill is in the asking and the editing.

Student data and privacy

What goes into an AI tool, and what stays out.

What about student data?

The simple rule: don't put student names or personal details into an AI tool. You almost never need to. We make materials from your curriculum, texts and topics, not from student records.

Privacy settings differ between tools, and rules differ between schools and countries, so your school's policy comes first. I'm not a lawyer. In session 10 you write your own one-page guidelines.

What can I upload to NotebookLM?

Your own materials and documents you are allowed to use, such as your unit notes or a text you have the right to share. Not student work with names on it.

Students, cheating and AI detection

Honest answers, including the ones that aren't tidy.

What about students using AI to cheat?

I can't promise a cheat-proof classroom, and nobody can. This program is about your preparation, not about policing students.

In session 10 we do talk about how you set expectations with students, and about task design, such as more work done in class or explained aloud, that makes it harder to hand a task to AI.

Can I rely on AI detectors?

I wouldn't. These tools give a probability, not proof, and research has found they can wrongly flag human writing, especially by non-native English speakers. A detector score is a reason to have a conversation, not evidence of cheating.

Will people be able to tell my materials were made with AI?

Unedited AI output can read as flat and generic, which is one more reason we edit. Materials you have checked, edited and fitted to your class are your materials.

Some schools have rules about disclosing AI use, so check yours. And a worksheet with a wrong answer key is a problem whoever wrote it.

Tools and the program

What you need, and how it works.

What tools do I need?

A laptop or desktop computer, a reliable internet connection, and an account with at least one AI tool such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Free accounts are enough to begin. NotebookLM uses a Google account.

The skills transfer between tools, so you are not locked into one. I'll help you choose where to start.

Do I need to be good with technology?

No. If you can use email and a word processor, you can do this. You type your requests in plain language, and because the sessions are one-to-one, we go at your pace.

Is it online, and when are the sessions?

It is online, by video call, one-to-one with me. There are ten one-hour sessions, and we agree times that suit your timetable.

Which subjects and grades is it for?

Any subject and any grade in K-12, plus ESL and EFL teachers in schools or teaching privately. If you teach something unusual, tell me on the free call and I'll say honestly whether it is a fit.

How much does it cost, and how do I book?

$200 for all ten sessions. You start with a free 30-minute call. The details are on the pricing page.
